WILPO CP 111 detection gate

Applied measurement methods

The WILPO CP 111 radiometric detection gate is designed for ongoing on-line analysis of the level of gamma and X radiation emitted by various types of transported materials, such as aggregates, ores, waste, delivered to waste incineration plants, etc. The device can also be used in monitoring security systems facilities against attempts to bring in or import radioactive materials.

OPERATION PRINCIPLE

The basic function of the WILPO CP 111 detection gate is to quickly signal the occurrence of an increased level of gamma or X-ray radiation in the area under radiometric control. Each exceeding of the set threshold value of the recorded radiation quanta is signaled by the device with a two-state "alarm signal". The gate detection system allows for effective identification of the state of increased radiation level for 100 millisecond analysis times carried out on-line, while the threshold value of the permissible radiation level can be freely defined in the gate controller system. The device is fully automated and operates autonomously, requiring no ongoing operator supervision.

Construction

The device uses a radiometric detection system, the key measuring element of which is a set of scintillation probes. The design of the module containing radiation detectors is developed individually to adapt it to the conditions at the site of implementation of a given installation. The shape and parameters of the detection module housing covers are selected in such a way as to ensure optimal radiation detection sensitivity in the area being monitored, while minimizing the influence of the "radiation background" from directions not covered by the analysis. The mechanical structure of the WILPO CP 111 gate can be designed as a suspension mounted on a transport conveyor, a gantlet, a free-standing module or in any other form, according to the customer's request.
